BVAS held an opening reception last Friday to celebrate an exhibit of 30 metal bird sculptures made from local metalwork artist Paul Weber. Mr. Weber has been known in the North County art community for over a decade with his unique metal sculptures, including abstract work and bird sculptures. His work has been exhibited in venues including the Oceanside Art Gallery and Oceanside Museum of Art.
Mr. Weber’s bird sculptures will be displayed in the BVAS nature center from August 6-21 during the center’s regular operating hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-4:00 pm, Sunday 1-4 pm). The Nature Center is located at 2202 S. Coast Hwy, Oceanside.
The relationship between Mr. Weber and BVAS began over a decade ago when several metal bird sculptures began mysteriously popping up around the grounds of the Nature Center. Along with these sculptures were notes stating “Dr. Duck was here.” Eventually the identity of the artist was discovered.
