Two New Birding Expeditions!

BVAS birders have helped expand bird walking opportunities in North County by partnering with the Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, and El Corazon Park in Oceanside for two new monthly walks.

Leo Carillo Bird Walk: The first Thursday of the month, at 8:00 AM, BVAS teams up with Leo Carillo Ranch Historic Park to offer a regularly scheduled bird walk.  Join Joan, Eve, Patti and Jane as we walk the trails and explore this amazing park.   Meet at the trailhead west of Carrillo Elementary School parking lot (off Poinsettia Lane, west of Melrose Ave and turn south on Paseo Escuela).  Trail parking is available in the lot to the right (west) of the school parking lot.  Trip leaders: Joan Herskowitz, Eve Martin, Patti Koger, and Jane Mygatt (jmherskowitz@yahoo.com,janemygatt@me.com).

Friends of El Corazon Garrison Creek Bird Walk:  BVAS’s Denise Riddle is now leading Friends of El Corazon’s monthly bird walks. In May, participants found 32 species! The highlight was sighting a beautiful Blue Grosbeak. Join us for our bird walks at 7:30am, every 2nd Wednesday at the Garrison Creek Trailhead. Turn into the El Corazon gate near El Camino on Oceanside Blvd. Watch for trucks and veer to the left for ample parking.  The walk lasts about an hour and a half.
