ENDANGERED SPECIES DAY OPEN HOUSE
Saturday, May 21, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The 2016 Endangered Species Day Open House at the Nature Center will be a time for the whole family to experience the wonders and joys of nature. Attractions will include live snakes and lizards as part of Eco-Vivarium’s traveling zoo, raptors from the Raptor Institute, and Dovie Christianson’s tortoise and turtle family.
A Nature Scavenger Hunt and checklist will help guide visitors to the various exhibits and activities. We’ll go on a bug-hunting expedition with our nets, and learn how to weave our own baskets with the California Indian Basket Weavers. With the help of a high-powered microscope, we’ll examine the wiggly life in a drop of lagoon water. There will be loads of other fun activities to do as well, including making nature journals, and masks. And you can bring home your very own milkweed plant!
Please bring your family and friends and join the fun. It’s all free, of course!
