Saving America’s Wild Birds (David Younkman) – Monthly General Meeting
May 15, 2019 @ 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM
An event every month that begins at 6:30 PM on day Third of the month, repeating until January 22, 2020

The American Bird Conservancy (ABC) is a leading bird conservation organization that works throughout the Western Hemisphere to protect rare and endangered bird species, conserve habitat, and address threats that affect all birds. Across the Americas, more than 500 native bird species are threatened with extinction — 12 percent of 4,230 species. In the United States alone, nearly 300 of 750 native bird species, or 37 percent, are declining in population.
Our May program focuses on three goals: heightening awareness, identifying threats, and promoting advocacy. Beyond our ethical obligation to protect against the loss of any species, this engaging and compelling presentation will bring to life the stories of individual target species and the general benefits birds bring to our society and our environment.
Representing the ABC is May’s guest speaker, David Younkman. David is a 30-year veteran of conservation and environmental management, having provided leadership at the Nature Conservancy, National Wildlife Federation, American Oceans Campaign, and, now, the ABC. His experience makes him uniquely qualified to share both the threats and promises to wildlife in general and birds in particular. David is sure to make better stewards of us all.
